Pokemon Go
Creating the graphics for the Pokémon GO 10th Anniversary livestream was a dream opportunity for me, and I wanted the final work to reflect the significance of the project.
As the event was held in Times Square, I drew inspiration from the scale and energy of the location when creating the main illustration. My goal was to capture the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event, immersing viewers in the atmosphere from the very beginning.
Using my knowledge of Pokémon, I transformed the iconic digital billboards of Times Square into subtle references to the different Pokémon types. It was particularly enjoyable developing the animation concepts, finding creative ways to represent each type while rewarding fans with small visual details to discover.
A key objective throughout the design process was to create graphics that felt dynamic and engaging without becoming visually overwhelming. I carefully balanced the composition, colour, and motion to ensure the visuals complemented the broadcast while remaining clear and impactful.
In addition to the opening graphics, I designed a suite of picture-in-picture overlays for the live production team to use throughout the event. These overlays carried the same visual language as the intro, creating a cohesive broadcast package while ensuring the gameplay remained the primary focus.
